Anyway, to repeat what was once written, we are now in Switzerland enjoying the Swiss Alps. It's magnificent here - about 5-10x what you would find at Yosemite. Where Yosemite is carved in 3 dimensions (limestone dramatic mountain cliffs vs valley) you have the Alps being 3 x n as n approaches days you have to explore. We spend the past two days in Wengen (where they make the swiss army products or rather, where they are branded and produced elsewhere in eastern europe). Since our stay here, we've been hiking quite intensely. Today, we covered about 3,500 ft at 5,000 ft. The air is quite a bit thinner here and when your brain is not familiar, it can feel as if you are suffocating slowly. We're trying to work off some of the weight gain from Italy and the cruise.
Meanwhile, prior to this post we covered: Rome, Florence, Venice, Tauromino (Sicily), Corfu (Greece), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Milan, Interlaken (Switzerland) and now Wengen. We plan to hit Munchen next and then Austria and so forth as we head towards Budapest. Most of the spots were hit via Crystal Cruises in all its maritime and gastronomical magnificense. There we met up with my parents who were continuing on via the prior mediterranean cruise and we had a great time. Even w/ a San Francisco and Manhattan seasoned taste bud, I would say that the food on the cruise was great. In addition to the main dining room, there was a Prego (managed by some larger Italien restaurant group) as well as Silk Road (managed by Nobu). In anycase, here are some pictures. Enjoy! We will have a more detailed city-by-city post later.
