We awoke at 4:30am to embark on our first hike since Switzerland on 17 kms of pure descent through the Sanmaria Gorge. We began at the top and proceded to test each sinew and fiber that held our knees together down steep single track and rock. The geography was out of this world. Thanks to a required engineering elective, I was able to impart some geonerd onto Kathleen. The hike had great views of the gorge both from the top as well as through, hopping over log and rock-based bridges through a bubbling brook that too was absolutely crystal clear and clean enough to drink from. At the end, we were greated with another amazing beach of equal water clarity. Unfortunately, despite my ankle not having given me any pain in the past month, acted up again so I was pretty much a cripple for the next 48 hours following this hike. But, it was worth it!
