07-14-08 Crete, Greece

Iraklio and Knossos had left a bit of a bland taste with us so we were quite happy to enjoy the beautiful drive along the coast line from central crete (Iraklio) to western crete (Chania). We rented a small Nissan Micra to take us through peaks, valleys and of course, the shoreline. Note in pic 3 that in Greece, road lanes are meant to be driven over not between. The center actually functions as a passing lane for both sides. But often you'll have scenarios where there are four lanes of traffic being created out of two. Crazy stuff. In anycase, the preceding pictures are of the beach we visited in our final day on Crete. It's actually Kathleen's favorite beach in the world because the beach actually extends out for more than 100 yards into the water. As you can see, the water was a clear tourquois and the weather was perfect.
